4-H VOLUNTEER REQUEST & EVENT DETAILS

What: STEM Family Night
(Science-Technology-Engineering-Mathematics)
Where: Aristotle Preparatory Academy
2461 Arty Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28208
When: Wednesday, April 15th, 2015
Time: 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m.; volunteers needed beginning at 5:15 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Who: Students and their families; 50-75 people expected in attendance

This event is aimed to share with attending families what their youth are doing in school. As stated in the event name the family night has a STEM focus. For this event the focus will be plant science as it relates to STEM. Youth and their families will have an opportunity to rotate through four stations for 20-25 minutes to increase their understanding of the plant life cycle from seed, planting, ecosystems, and edibles in the context of food science!

We will have 4-H staff present, however, we will need volunteer help with event setup and cleanup. We will also need volunteers to assist with the four stations. We will have at least one volunteer leading the activity and discussion points and would like to have additional volunteers at each station providing secondary support (passing out materials, etc.) The activities have been outlined below so that volunteers can become more comfortable in the activities they will be helping to conduct. Please review all provided links and contact catherine_daniels@ncsu.edu with any questions. Sign up here to volunteer!
