Youth Volunteer Leader Training

Description:
Are you a  teen interested in building your resume? Would you like to give back to your community while gaining real skills that can be used to get a job? Well you should become  a 4-H Youth Volunteer Leader. Join us at our office on Tuesday, June 10th, 2015 from 10 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. for the upcoming 4-H Youth Volunteer Leader Training. contact, 4-H Agent, racquel_mcneil@ncsu.edu with any questions. Space is limited and registration closes on Tuesday June 7, 2015, so register now!

Training & activities will cover the the following:
Ages & stages of youth development
Acquiring skills to keep participants active & engaged, age appropriately
The Experiential Learning Model
Gaining an understanding of the basis for all 4-H curriculum and activities
Leadership skill development
Characteristics of a good leader; team building; record keeping
Public Speaking
Covering public speaking basics as it relates to 4-H volunteers & leaders
Ages: 14-18

4-H Night out At Copperhead Island
June 10, 2016
Description:
Come join Mecklenburg County for a 4-H night out of Fun for 4-H families and at large members. Families join us for a Night out with 4-H. Families will participate in (outdoor cooking, a night hike, camp stories, smores Astronomy, Owl watching and more). After having fun, retreat to your campsite for the evening and join us for breakfast before departing. Stay the whole night or just enjoy evening activities. Evening snacks and continental style breakfast will be provided.
Special Notes: Please have dinner before arriving.

What are the ingredients in a recipe that cause a cake to rise? Is the same gas produced when using baking powder, baking soda, or yeast? These are questions youth pursue in this exploration while, at the same time, they get to eat their experiments and gain some sense of the chemical properties of materials.
