2017 4-H Summer Fun Registration Form

*Every child registered for a summer program must have ALL forms completed and returned to 4-H office prior to the program. Please scan/email to catherine_daniels@ncsu.edu, fax to 704-336-6876, or mail/hand deliver to 1418 Armory Drive, Charlotte, NC 28204. *Please specify if you feel that your child will need accommodations for any given program so that reasonable efforts can be made to include them appropriately. Contact 4-H staff, Catherine Daniels at catherine_daniels@ncsu.edu or County Director, Nelson McCaskill at nelson_mccaskill@ncsu.edu with concerns or inquiries.

Child care is not provided so please plan to only register youth of age to participate in programs. Siblings or other youth may only attend if a parent or guardian plans to stay with them to monitor. Please arrive at programs no more than 15 minutes before and make plans to have youth picked up no more than 15 minutes after the program ends. Extension staff have to prepare and clean up for programs and cannot be responsible youth who arrive early or have a delayed pickup time. We appreciate your cooperation!

Description: Join 4-H for a workshop all about team building and leadership through working together. Meet and make new friends this summer by engaging in fun and interactive team building activities.

2017 South Central 4-H District Activity Day
Date: Friday, June 16th
Time: all day event with travel
Location: Meet at CES Office to depart for Alexander County

Cost: FREE (lunch is included)
Age: 5-18
Description: Annual south central district competition event for 4-H presentations, project records, science fair, and entertains.

4-H Make & Take Garden Crafts
Date: Wednesday, June 28th
Time: 1-3 p.m.

Description: You dig it? Come participate in make and take garden crafts including “Soil Sam”, basil seed germination necklaces, pizza garden in a glove, and creating your own seed bombs!

4-H Residential Summer Camp
Dates: Sunday, June 25th – Friday, June 30th
Time: Departure/return times & detailed instructions will be provided at a later date to all registered campers
Location: Depart from CES Office & travel to Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Center in Reidsville, NC
Join us this summer, June 25-June 30, 2017 for our Residential Summer camp Program. Youth ages 8-13 will travel to Reidsville, NC for a week long experience making new friends, swimming, doing crafts, team-building, shooting sports, hiking, and more. Youth will camp in a cabin with an indoor washroom. If you have any questions or concerns please contact 4-H Agent, Racquel Washington via email at racquel_mcneil@ncsu.edu or via phone (704) 336-4014. Additional information can be found below. Design It! Balls & Tracks
Date: Thursday, July 6th
Time: 1-2 p.m.
Location: Sugar Creek Library – 4045 N. Tryon Street, Suite A, Charlotte, NC 28206
Cost: FREE
Age: open to ages 5-18 but activity best serves youth ages 7-14 years of age
Description: Coast on into this workshop to learn more about rollercoasters and the engineering and design process. Youth will conceptualize gravity, forces of motions, and more by building ski jumps, hills and valleys, and loops in their hands-on coaster designs!

Description: Come and enjoy 10-minute science activities. Keep the STEM skills refreshed as we make science quick, fun, and entertaining! Got just a few minutes? Spend them with us engaged in simple science!

Description: Join us as we make X-wing Starfighters, origami, lightsaber bubble wands, and galaxy bath bombs! It’s a morning to be out of this world!

4-H is Poppin’

Description: Ever wondered about popcorn and where its origins are from? We will pop the question and learn about the history of agriculture and popcorn. Youth will enjoy a popcorn snack, healthy recipes for popcorn treats, and get hands-on with kernels, plant parts, and more.

4-H Summer Service
Date: Tuesday, August 15th
Time: 10 a.m.-noon
Location: CES Office – 1418 Armory Drive Charlotte, NC 28204
Cost: FREE (you may bring a canned good item to donate)
Age: 5-18
Description: This will be a morning of service for our youth. We know it is important to continually give back. What better way than to spend a summer morning making new friends and giving back! Youth will have options of crafts, cards, and more to share with local communities in need.

4-H Health Rocks! Messing with the Message
Date: Tuesday, August 22nd
Time: 1-3 p.m.
Location: Armory
Cost: FREE
Age: 11-15
Description: Join us as we delve into what makes us tick! Synapses fire and we react. Find out what can affect those reaction times and how to make healthy decisions to support your well being. Let’s stay healthy this summer and throughout our upcoming school year. We’ll use this time to use hands-on activities to teach Health Rocks!
