Description: Exploration of plant & wildlife native to the area. Participants explore the Tuckaseegee Park grounds in discovery of various wildlife living among them.

9 a.m.-11 a.m.: “M&M Mysteries and Potato Power”
Description: Participants act as Food Scientists learning scientific theories & principles using common food items.
Oct. 20, 2018
9 a.m.-11 a.m.: “Mystery Mush and Messages”
Description: Participants learn more about the unusual properties of cornstarch & make different types of invisible ink.
Nov. 10, 2018
9 a.m.-11 a.m.: “Stay on Top of Your Health”
Description: Participants learn more about the Food Pyramid and the importance of a balanced diet. Participants will participate in a short relay & pizza making. Participants with long hair will need to have it pull back for preparing pizza.
Dec. 1, 2018
9 a.m.-11 a.m. “The Wonder of Winter Solstice”
Description: Participants learn more about astronomy & the changing moon patterns. Participants will be creating an astrolabe for moon charting at home.

Description: Youth will practice and develop the life skills of relating to others, making decisions and communicating with others while developing minimum impact skills using various 4-H curriculums.
Description: 4-H Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programs are proven to engage youth in fun, hands-on activities and get them excited about careers in science. The meeting time is geared towards homeschoolers who attend NDRC for PE programming but the 4-H programs are open to all attendees, not limited to just homeschoolers.
