Who can enroll in 4-H?
4-H welcomes all youth, families, and organizations in Mecklenburg County. Youth must be at least 5 years old (as of January 1st) to enroll in 4-H. Youth can remain in 4-H as members until they are 18. After youth age out of 4-H, they can choose to remain involved as 4-H volunteers. Adults can get involved in 4-H by enrolling as volunteers or club leaders. What makes 4-H unique? 4-H has an established, research-based, and university-backed track record of empowering youth through hands-on learning, giving youth a platform to explore their potential, and promoting positive youth development for over a century. 4-H connects youth and families with opportunities at the county, state, and national levels. These opportunities include 4-H clubs, workshops, countywide events, district events, projects, statewide conferences, youth leadership conferences, camps, scholarships, trips, educational trainings, and much more. What does the enrollment process look like?
To begin enrollment, you will need to create an account through 4-H Online. By registering through 4-H Online, you can join or renew your membership, register for programs and events, receive information about upcoming events, and update your information and project work year-round. Enrolling in 4-H as a member is free, and once you have an account, the online system saves your information, making yearly enrollment easy. You can find the volunteer enrollment process on our 4-H Club Leader & Volunteer page. We also have physical enrollment forms available at our office, or ready to print under our Resources tab. If you fill out a physical enrollment form, you must turn in a copy to the 4-H office.

The 4-H year in North Carolina begins on January 1 and ends on December 31. Youth members and volunteers must enroll each year to remain active in the 4-H program.
