Free EBT Equipment
for Farmers!

On June 18, the Mecklenburg Cooperative Extension program in collaboration with USDA/FNS and Market Link will host a SNAP EBT Farmer's Market Sign-Up event. The goal of FNS/SNAP is to provide individuals living below the poverty level access to healthy foods. The goal of Farm Service and Cooperative Extension is to help farmers increase revenue and support access to healthy, local and nutritious food. At this one-stop event, farmers will have an opportunity to: Receive a presentation about the program Learn about free equipment and wireless service offered through a 3-yr contract to support processing of SNAP benefits Receive approval and vendor number by USDA Choose equipment and receive it within 10 days, or learn to use current iPhone or iPad. Farmers are under no obligation to sign a contract. Individuals are also encouraged to go to USDA’s website and complete the application online, if interested, here: http://www.fns.usda.gov/snap/retailers-0. They will still be eligible for the free equipment or use their own IPhone. Individuals would need to bring the confirmation email to the site the day of the event. USDA will approve application, then they can choose equipment which is a faster process, than waiting for the application to be keyed into the system. Event Information:  June 18, 2015 10:00 am - 2:00 pm Mecklenburg Cooperative Extension Office 1418 Armory Dr. Charlotte, NC 28204 To register visit: http://mecklenburg.ces.ncsu.edu/ebt/ or contact Kristin Davis at 704.336.4006.
