NC 4-H Teen LEADS: Building the Next Generation of Leaders in STEM
Are you in 8th–11th grade and looking for a chance to grow as a leader while diving into the exciting world of STEM and computer science? The NC 4-H Teen LEADS Program is designed to do just that! Registration is open from October 1st - October 31st, 2025.
What is Teen LEADS? Teen LEADS is a long-term leadership program through North Carolina A&T 4-H. The program trains teens who have been involved in 4-H for at least a year how to become peer coaches and mentors, guiding youth in their communities through hands-on STEM and computer science opportunities. Participants gain skills that prepare them for the future while inspiring the next generation. LEADS stands for Learning to Educate others About Doing Stem.
Why It Matters: Computing and technology are transforming how we live, work, and connect. To thrive in a tech-driven world, young people need both technical skills and leadership abilities. Teen LEADS bridges this gap by empowering teens to:
Develop leadership and character Master technical & creative skills Explore STEM and computer science careers Build self-confidence and communication skills Share knowledge to strengthen their communities
This program not only builds youth assets but also ensures participants have a voice and opportunities to lead—helping to shape a more equitable future.
Opportunities Await! Outstanding participants may be selected to attend national conferences such as IGNITE and Space Camp. Once they complete all of the requirements for their level and meet the age requirements.
How It Works:
-
The program runs from November 2025 to August 2026
-
Teens will meet monthly (in-person or virtually) with their county 4-H agent and complete quarterly reports of their progress for leadership, technical, and communication skill-building
